TLI is a family owned and run company. Our directors, Ian and Eileen, have been in the business of teaching students, and training teachers, for over 40 years in Europe, Asia and Africa. TLI operated in the North of Spain as an English academy and provider of Trinity College London TESOL qualifications for over ten years before relocating to Edinburgh. We know how difficult it is to be away from our family and friends. Because of this we work very hard at making our students feel at home with us as they improve their language skills.

Our teachers

As a long-standing teacher training institution we pride ourselves on the quality of our staff. All of our teachers are native English speakers, hold TEFL qualifications and take part in regular training sessions to help hone and develop their skills. As well as technical teaching ability we always seek to employ staff who genuinely care about the welfare and development of their students and consider teaching as a vocation rather than just a job. Our teachers give communicative, informative, enjoyable lessons.

I do not need accommodation

Homestay in Edimburgh

Homestay 16 - 99 years old

Important: Accommodation availability is subject to change without notice and it is out of Worddy's ability to know its availability on real time. Only the school can confirm once a booking has been received.

Homestay means living with a local family in their home and experiencing life as a member of that family.

NB. We only offer homestay accommodation to students aged 16 and over (unless the student is part of a group).

We work closely with a long-established local agency to provide homestay accommodation.

Please note that homestay accommodation can be with a family, a couple or even a single person. We cannot guarantee the type of household in which you will be accommodated.
In addition, it is important to remember that you may be required to share a room during peak periods, for example from May to October.

You will receive 16 meals per week in your host family accommodation. That is to say breakfast and evening meal from Monday to Friday and breakfast, lunch and evening meal on weekends. Sometimes your host family will allow you to cook and/or serve you snacks, etc.

Your washing will be done for you in your host family. Towels and bed linen are also provided and will be washed regularly.

Sometimes your host or family will offer to take you on a day and/or overnight excursion with them. Of course, you can make your own plans for evenings and weekends, but often students enjoy these excursions and it can be helpful to settle in with your host person or family.

Your room
Remember that it is a good idea to book your accommodation in advance. During peak periods, you may have to share a room. However, all rooms are equipped with a desk where you can work and do your homework, a wardrobe where you can store your clothes and a window with curtains.

All the homestay accommodation we offer is in Edinburgh. You may need to use a bus service to get to and from the school to your accommodation. All of our homestay accommodation is less than 5 minutes walk from a local bus stop.
