Maltalingua English Language School's Teachers

Course starts every Monday and is for all language levels.

General English in Saint Julian's

English 16 - 99 years old

Ideal for students who wish to combine learning English on a part-time basis with other activities. This is a good choice for those who are on a long-term programme or wish to simply improve their English while on holiday. May also be combined with one or two private lessons per day.

Level: Beginner to Advanced

Length: 1 to 52 weeks

Classes per week: 20 lessons per week  (each lesson lasts 45 min)

Average class size: 8-10 (Max 12)

IELTS Exam Preparation Course

English 16 - 99 years old

Our IELTS Academic Exam Preparation course is designed for higher level students who will benefit from an internationally-recognised qualification that assesses their English language skills.

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) was designed to assess the language skills of candidates who wish to study or work in an English-speaking environment, and exam takers also receive a valuable certificate that is recognised by professional institutions and universities worldwide.

Our Intensive IELTS course consists of 30 lessons per week.

  • 4 lessons per day focus on developing English language ability in a General English class specific to student level;
     
  • 2 lessons per day focus on developing IELTS exam skills, techniques and having IELTS exam practice.
Which IELTS exam: Academic or General?

There are two types of IELTS exams: academic and general training (visit www.ielts.org for more information about the difference).

Our IELTS course focuses on the IELTS Academic exam, which has been the most popular choice for Maltalingua students.

Business English

English 16 - 99 years old

Business English courses are a superb choice for motivated and busy executives and business students with a moderate to high proficiency in English; students need to be Intermediate (B1+) or higher. We know that your time is valuable; this is why Maltalingua aims to develop the English language skills that you need for your professional life as quickly and efficiently as possible.

The course is designed to help you communicate in an English-speaking business environment. Instruction is held in small groups of no more than 8 students and covers a number of topics, including:

  • Taking part in business meetings and speeches;
  • Corresponding by email and by telephone;
  • Recruitment and interview techniques;
  • Giving presentations;
  • Small talk for conversations outside of meetings.

As the courses are designed to be more flexible than General English classes, the lessons can also be adjusted to your topics of interest (such as legal English, or marketing and sales).

Our Standard Business English course has 20 lessons per week (3 hours per day, Monday to Friday).

Alternatively, Intensive Business English offers 30 lessons per week (4.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday), with an additional module that focuses on fluency and communication in the afternoon. As there are usually fewer students in the afternoon, there is even more flexibility in the topics to better address the needs of individual participants.

Usually the check-in is one or two days before the start of the course, and check out on the day of graduation. You can change the dates in the form.

Host Families in Sliema or Saint Julian's

Homestay 16 - 99 years old

Important: Accommodation availability is subject to change without notice and it is out of Worddy's ability to know its availability on real time. Only the school can confirm once a booking has been received.

The school can arrange accommodation with one of our host families. Host families have been carefully selected and are subject to regular reviews; this helps to ensure a friendly and pleasant atmosphere.

Accommodation with a host family includes a single or twin/double room, breakfast and dinner. Single rooms are the standard option, however, also twin rooms may be booked by participants traveling alone. In this case, we will assign you an appropriate roommate of the same gender and preferably of a different nationality. Bedlinen and towels are provided by the host family and cleaned once a week; however, we ask you to bring your own beach towel. In the summer, the families provide fans, during the winter heating will be arranged.

You will have to make arrangements with the host family for your laundry needs (laundry will usually be done once a week). Be open-minded to come to Malta and get to know a different lifestyle. Host families are not a guest house but they will be happy to offer a home away from home for you.

Our host families live in close proximity to the school.
